WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team traveled to play the #21 Dallas Baptist Patriots on Saturday afternoon. The Jets could not contain the Patriots losing 4-1.
It took the Patriots 10 shots in the first half, with only three on goal, to score the first goal of the match in the 27
th minute mark. After the first half, the score was Patriots 1, Newman 0.
The Jets came out strong in the second half. In the 50
th minute Newman's
Blair Terry chipped in a loose ball over the keeper's head for a Jets goal. The goal tied the match, 1-1. Less than nine minutes later the Patriots scored two goals for the 3-1 lead. In the 75
th minute
Mei-Mei Senthavy attempted at another goal for Newman, but Dallas Baptist saved it. The final goal came in the 86
th minute mark for the Patriots, winning the game 4-1.
Newman had three shots that were all on target; two from Terry, one from Senthavy.
Kayleigh Renfro had nine saves, allowing four goals. Dallas Baptist outshot the Jets 29-3.
The Jets will host Texas A&M International at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18.
