Teams Tie After Double Overtime

WICHITA – Newman University's Jets took on the Dust devils of Texas A&M International University today as the lady Jets shutout TAMIU but were unable to score themselves. Windy conditions at Wilkins Field kept the ladies on the back foot for most of the first half. The Jets however showed good determination as the team began to push forward toward the end of the first half.

The ladies were outshot by the dust devils but that was not to be a reflection of the overall game. The two overtime periods could not separate the teams either as goalkeeper Kayleigh Renfro produced 7 saves for the Jets and was also assisted as the crossbar and post came to her aid.

“The girls played well against TAMIU. The conditions were difficult and the defense played really. I think they have really come a long way this season and I can see them getting a win against St. Mary's on Saturday.” Robin Allard, Spectator.

The lady's will next host St. Mary's on Saturday Oct. 20 at Wilkins Field. The game will start at noon and will be a 'Pink Out' day as Newman University and the women's soccer team show its support for breast cancer.
