FORT SMITH, Ark. - The Jets witnessed two losses this week as the team competed against the leading Heartland Conference Arkansas-Fort Smith lady Lions. The Jets played a two-match series at Fort Smith; Newman loss 3-0 in both matches on Thursday and Friday evening.
The Jets entered the week series with a conference record of 2-7 and an overall record of 4-13. The Lions on the other hand entered the game on an undefeated 9-0 conference record and a 20-2 record overall.
The Lions, who are likely to win its conference next week, put in some impressive performances against the Jets and in front of its faithful 301 spectators. The first day witnessed the home side winning its first three sets; 25-18, 25- 19, and 25-16.
The second day for the Jets, the Lions looked to continued to impress, closing the match once again in three sets, 25-16, 25-15 and 25-19. Newman played hard both matches against the undefeated conference Lions.
The Jets record now stands at 4-15 overall with a conference record of 2-9. Newman will next take on St Mary's in San Antonio, Texas on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
