Jet's Unfortunate in Five Set Thriller

WICHITA - Newman University and Texas A&M International University battled it out on Saturday afternoon in what turned out to be a thrilling five-set, competitive showdown.

The Jets took the first set from the grasp of the visitors 28-26, as a kill by Katelyn Schmidtberger sealed the set for the Jets forcing the Dustdevils to make a come back.

The second set was also a nail biter as Newman University and Texas A&M found themselves tied up on 24 points. However, the Dustdevils put themselves in the the driving seat as the team won it's second set 26-24. Then went on to win the third set 25-21 as Alex Ciszek served an ace for the visiting team.

The fourth set illustrated the Jets' desire to win the game as the team fought back from being down 12-3, finding themselves tied up 23-23. Newman then turned up the heat once more as another kill by Schmidtberger and a service ace by Gabby Loxterman sealed the set for the Jets 25-23.

Tied 2-2 it looked to be Newman's day, but the fifth set produced an upset for the homeside as the traveling team, TAMIU would take the victory home as they won the third set 15-11.

Haley Dotson led the Jets with 23 kills while Loxterman had 59 assists and Dana Shannon

The Jet's next host Dallas Baptist on Oct. 11 at 7.p.m.
