ODESSA, Texas - Newman volleyball team traveled to Odessa, Texas to face the Texas-Permian Basin Falcons on Thursday evening. The Jets fell to the Falcons in three sets: 25-15, 25-22 and 25-14.
The first set of the night went to the Falcons, 25-15. The Jets were led by junior
Belinda Rohling's four kills followed by juniors
Gabby Loxterman and
Gladys Azzun's two kills each. Newman could not overcome Texas-Permian Basin with nine errors.
Newman stepped up in the second set. Rohling recorded six kills with senior
Katelyn Schmidtberger's four kills. The Jets committed 10 errors, but still held on close to the Falcons. Texas-Permian Basin won the set, 25-22.
The final set went in the Falcons favor, 25-14. Schmidtberger led in Newman kills with three, followed by
Hannah Melichar's three kills.
Loxterman dished 24 assists, while Rohliing led the team with 11 kills and
Tori Alderson had 21 digs.
The Jets are 4-18 and 2-12 in Heartland Conference play. Newman will conclude its season on Saturday at McMurry with a game time of 12 p.m.
