WICHITA - Newman Universities womens soccer team welcomed Oklahoma Christian to the Heartland Conference today with a 2-0 shut out. Senior Tori Hostick and sophomore Blair Terry scored the two goals for the Jets.

The Jets opened the scoring against the visitors after eight minutes of play when Blair Terry scored to mark her first goal of the season for the Jets. Possession was then kept by Newman for the majority of the first half. An assist by Harriet Jakeman across the field to teammate Tori Hostick led to a shot that found the back of the net after hitting the post.

The second period welcomed a challenge at Wilkins field as the Eagles team looked to claw its way back into the game. Despite the effort shown by Oklahoma Christian the Jets managed to maintain its composure as they controled what turned out to be a scrappy second period.

The win for Newman gives the team a 2-3 record. The Jets will now travel to Texas to take on Texas A&M International on Sept. 20 for the start of Heartland Conference play.
