Austin, Texas - Newman volleyball had a rough match against St. Edward's on Saturday. The Jets fell to the Hilltoppers 25-14, 26-24 and 25-6.
-In the first set the Jets compiled a total of nine kills with 10 attack errors and four service errors. The Hilltoppers took the first set 25-14.
-The second set was a different story for Newman as they forced the St. Edward's to fight for its 26-24 win. The Hilltoppers had a slight advantage with 14 kills over the Jets 10. A block by junior
Hannah Melichar tied it up for the Jets at 18-18. The Jets held strong, but the Hilltoppers six kills in the last 14 points were too much.
-Things started off well in the third set with a kill from senior
Haley Dotson. The Hilltoppers earned the next two points, but senior
Sarah Waterson recorded a kill for the 2-2 tie. After that, the Jets fell apart recording five kills in the 25-6 loss.
The Jets return home on Tuesday, Sept. 25 to face the Emporia State Hornets.
