PRATT, Kan. - The Newman wrestling team defeated Pratt Community College, 22-16, on the road Wednesday (Jan. 16). The Jets are now 2-3 in dual action this season.
Freshman
Colton Duhr started the dual, winning the first match by an 8-2 score in the 157 lb. class. Sophomore
Clark Driz won a close 3-2 decision in the 165 lb. match as the Jets won the first team matches of the dual for a 6-0 lead.
Senior
Tyler Hasenbank needed overtime, but got the 6-4 decision win in the 184 lb. match. At heavyweight, junior
Lorenzo Serna picked up a 4-2 decision victory.
The Jets built a 22-7 advantage in the dual with wins at 125 lbs. and 133 lbs. Sophomore
Kris Workman won a major decision, 10-2, and then senior
JP Carter won via forfeit for the 22-7 margin.
Newman lost the final two matches at 141 lbs. and 149 lbs., but were victorious with the 22-16 final score.
The Jets travel to the UNK Duals this Saturday (Jan. 19) in Kearney, Neb.
