Box Score WICHITA – The Newman volleyball team defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State in straight sets on Thursday (Oct. 10) to run its winning streak to five-straight matches. The Lady Jets upped their record to 9-6 on the season.
 
The Lady Jets hit .279 in the first set to pull out to a 1-0 advantage with a 25-21 score. NU upped their hitting percentage to .378 in the second set and cruised to a 25-19 win. In the third, the Lady Jets won 25-23.
 
For the match, NU hit .268 with 47 kills and only 13 errors. The Rangers finished the three-set match hitting .168, including .105 and 1.73 in the last two sets.

Ashley Gonzalez put down a match-high 13 kills and hit .333. Jarin Braithwait also hit double figures in kills with 10 and hit a team-best .412. Gaylynn Jones was one kill from a double-double as she totaled nine kills and a match-high 17 digs. Lexi Kuharich totaled 41 assists and 11 digs for a double double.
 
The Lady Jets are back in action tomorrow (Oct. 11) on the road at Oklahoma Panhandle State in Goodwell, Okla. at 5 p.m.
