Box Score WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team was defeated by Lubbock Christian, 3-0, on Saturday night (Oct. 19) at Wilkins Field. The Lady Jets dropped to 5-7 and 2-3 in the Heartland Conference.
 
The Lady Chaps scored two goals early in the first 13 minutes to go up 2-0. LCU dribbled into the box and fired a shot that went to the left of NU goalkeeper Haley Borchers in the 11th minute to take the 1-0 advantage. LCU went up 2-0 in the 13th minute when the Lady Chaps knocked in a rebounded shot.
 
LCU added its third goal in the second half. A header off a corner kick in the 58th minute put the Lady Chaps in front 3-0.
 
The Lady Jets totaled seven shots to 11 from LCU. Maricela Ruvalcaba led NU with two shots.
 
Borchers got the start in goal for the Lady Jets, making five saves and allowing the three goals.
 
NU welcomes Texas-Permian Basin to Wilkins Field on Monday (Oct. 19) for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
