WICHITA – Newman volleyball returns to Fugate Gymnasium for four-straight matches. The stretch starts this weekend with two Heartland Conference contests. Texas A&M International comes to Wichita on Thursday (Oct. 3) for a 7 p.m. match, and on Saturday (Oct. 5) St. Mary's travels to Fugate Gymnasium for a 12 p.m. match.
 
Last week, the Lady Jets went 2-1, including 1-1 in two road conference matches. NU defeated Barclay College on Monday (Sept. 24) in straight set and then hit the road for two Heartland Conference matches. The Lady Jets fell to St. Edward's, 3-0, on Thursday (Sept. 26), but responded on Saturday (Sept. 28) at McMurry by beating the War Hawks, 3-2, and giving them their first conference loss.
 
Texas A&M International is currently 1-12 and 0-5 in the Heartland Conference. Their lone win is against Texas A&M – Kingsville. The Dustdevils are led by Alex Ciszek and Toriana Goods with 115 and 113 kills, respectively. Lizzie Prieto has a team-high 385 assists (8.37 per set), and Desiree Ortiz leads TAMIU with 238 digs.
 
St. Mary's is 6-7 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Rattlers were on a three-match winning streak until Saturday when they fell, 3-1, to No. 12 West Texas A&M. StMU has conference wins against St. Edward's (3-1), TAMIU (3-0) and Lubbock Christian (3-0). Kelsey Huber has a team-high 150 kills (3.61 per set), Rachael Scicchitano leads StMU with 352 assists (7.49 per set) and Victorria Martinez totals a team-high 287 digs (6.11 per set).
 
After this weekend, NU hosts Southwestern College on Monday (Oct. 7) and Northwestern Oklahoma State next Thursday (Oct. 10) at 7 p.m.
