Box Score WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team scored two first half goals to down Texas-Permian Basin, 2-0, on Monday (Oct. 21) at Wilkins Field. The Lady Jets moved to 6-7 and 3-3 in the Heartland Conference.
 
Maricela Ruvalcaba scored the game-winning goal in the 17th minute on a shot from the left side after a pass from Courtney Galliher. The goal was Ruvalcaba's fifth of the season.
 
The Lady Jets doubled the advantage to 2-0 in the 34th minute when Blair Terry fired a shot from the top of the box over the top of the UTPB goalkeeper. Mei-Mei Senthavy's pass set up the Terry goal.
 
NU totaled 21 shots to 12 from UTPB, including an 11-5 Lady Jet advantage in the first half.
 
Haley Borchers and Kayleigh Renfro split time in goal with each playing 45 minutes to combine for the shutout. Borchers got the start and made three saves. Renfro played the second half and made two saves.
 
The Lady Jets travel to Dallas Baptist on Saturday (Oct. 26) for a 7:30 p.m. conference game, and then go to Oklahoma Christian on Monday (Oct. 28) for a 7:30 p.m. conference showdown.
