Box Score WICHITA – The Newman volleyball tallied a season-high 12 blocks on its way to a 3-1 victory over Texas A&M International on Thursday (Oct. 3) at Fugate Gymnasium. The Lady Jets evened their record at 6-6 and are 3-4 in the Heartland Conference.
 
The Lady Jets cruised ahead to an early 2-0 lead in the match. NU hit .417 in the first set on its way to a 25-14 win. In the second set, the Lady Jets won 25-22.
 
After dropping the third set by a close 25-22 score, NU pulled away with a 10-2 run in the fourth set to go up 14-6 and forced TAMIU to take a timeout. The Lady Jets won the set, 25-15.
 
Jarin Braithwait totaled a match-high 14 kills, hitting .481 in the match. Three other Lady Jets hit double digits in kills. Gaylynn Jones had 13, Jeana Farruggia had 11 and Ashley Gonzalez had 10 kills. Alexus Litts finished with a match-high 49 assists, and Tori Alderson totaled 23 digs.
 
The Lady Jets continue their four-match home stretch with St. Mary's on Saturday (Oct. 5) at 12 p.m. at Fugate Gymnasium.
