Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Newman women's soccer dropped its Heartland Conference opener, 3-0, on the road at St. Mary's on Saturday (Oct. 5) at StMU Field. The Lady Jets dropped to 3-5 and 0-1 in the Heartland Conference.
 
The Rattlers scored one goal in the first half, scoring in the 21st minute for an early 1-0 advantage.
 
In the second half, StMU added two goals. The Rattlers put in a goal after a blocked shot close to the goal in the 58th minute. The final StMU goal came in the 87th minute on a header for the 3-0 score.
 
The Lady Jets totaled six shots, including four shots on goal. Maricela Ruvalcaba led NU with four shots and three shots on goal. Mei-Mei Senthavy had one shot, and Harriet Jakeman also had one shot.
 
Haley Borchers went the full 90 minutes in goal, making 13 saves and allowing the three goals.
 
NU continues its Heartland Conference slate on Monday (Oct. 7) at Texas A&M International at 2:30 p.m.
