HAYS, Kan. – The Newman men's basketball team starts its road schedule with a trip to Fort Hays State tonight (Nov. 19) at 7:30 p.m. at Gross Memorial Coliseum. It's the first of two straight road games against MIAA opponents.

The Jets enter tonight's game on a two-game winning streak after starting the season with a loss to West Texas A&M. NU defeated another MIAA team, Pittsburg State, on Wednesday (Nov. 13) by a 80-76 score and then won, 97-68, on Saturday (Nov. 16) against Manhattan Christian.

The Tigers of FHSU are currently 3-0 on the season. FHSU was picked to win the conference in the Preseason MIAA Polls.

NU won the last meeting between the two teams, 80-78, at Fugate Gymnasium on Nov. 24, 2012. The Jets forced 32 turnovers and had 14 steals in the win.
Shamar Acuay, who was a Division II All-Star and All-Heartland Conference First Team last season, scored a game-high 29 points and added seven rebounds.

Since transitioning to Division II, the Jets are 1-4 against the Tigers, including 0-2 at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

After tonight's game, the Jets travel to Washburn on Saturday (Nov. 23) for a 3 p.m. game at Lee Arena in Topeka, Kan. Â
