Box Score WICHITA – The Newman volleyball team won the first set, but dropped the final three, falling 3-1 to St. Edward's on Saturday (Nov. 2) afternoon at Fugate Gymnasium. The Lady Jets fell to 12-11 and 6-9 in the Heartland Conference, while the Hilltoppers improved to 11-14 and 9-5 in conference play.
 
The Lady Jets won the first set, 26-24. With the score 24-24, Shelby Zoglman put NU ahead with a kill, and Tori Alderson's service ace lifted the Lady Jets to a 26-24 set win.
 
The second set was also close. With the score tied at 23-23, three NU errors gave SEU the set. Two attack errors and a service error by NU allowed the Hilltoppers to win 26-24.
 
The Lady Jets pulled out to a 10-5 advantage in the third set. The Hilltoppers responded to tie the set at 12-12. With the score knotted at 23-23, SEU got a kill and a block to win 25-23.
 
In the fourth set with the score tied at 7-7, SEU went on an 8-2 run to go up 15-9. The Hilltoppers continued to control the set, winning 25-14.
 
Zoglman let NU with 12 kill, hitting .500. Ashley Gonzalez added 11 kills, and Belinda Rohling totaled 10 kills. Alexus Litts had a double-double of 42 assists and 17 digs. Libero Tori Alderson had a match-high 30 digs.
 
Elissa Stanton let SEU with 17 kills and hit .472.
 
The Lady Jets hit the road for three straight matches. NU starts the road trip at St. Mary's on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas.
