Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – The Newman women's soccer team lost, 8-0, to No. 1 seed St. Edward's in its first-ever appearance in the Heartland Conference Tournament on Thursday (Nov. 7) at LC Family Field. The Lady Jets end the season with a 7-10 record, while SEU improved to 15-0-2.
The Hilltoppers jumped on the Jets early, scoring five goals in the first half. SEU took the 1-0 advantage less than 2 minutes into the contest. The lead was doubled to 2-0 in the 19th minute. A goal in the 32nd minute made it 3-0.
Two goals less than a minute apart upped the advantage to 5-0. SEU scored in the 41st and 42nd minutes.
In the second half, SEU added three goals. The Hilltoppers scored in the 56th, 73rd and 89th minutes.
SEU totaled 26 shots to one shot from NU.
Mei-Mei Senthavy fired the one Lady Jet shot.
Haley Borchers and
Kayleigh Renfro both got time in goal. Borchers went the first 45 minutes, making four saves and allowing five goals. Renfro played the last 45 minutes, making two saves and allowing three goals.
NU finished the season with a 7-10 record and a 4-5 record in the Heartland Conference. The Heartland Conference Tournament appearance was the first-ever for the NU women's soccer program.
