Box Score LAREDO, Texas – The Lady Jets volleyball team made quick work of Texas A&M International, winning in straight sets, 3-0, on Saturday (Nov. 9) afternoon at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. The Lady Jets improved to 13-12 on the season and 7-10 in the Heartland Conference.
With the score tied at 13-13 in the first set, NU took a three-point advantage with a
Jarin Braithwait ace and kills from
Gaylynn Jones and
Ashley Gonzalez. The Lady Jets led by the score of 21-18, but TAMIU scored four straight points to go up 22-21. NU had the set at set point at 24-23, but the Dustdevils got a kill to tie the score at 24-24. With TAMIU facing set point at 26-25, NU scored three straight points to win set one, 28-26. Jones and
Alexis Roecker had kills and a block from
Alexus Litts and Gonzalez gave NU the set win.
In the second set, the Lady Jets took control. TAMIU held the lead only once at 2-1. Holding a slight one point lead at 17-16, NU scored six of the next seven points to go up 23-17. Braithwait put the set away with a kill to lift NU to the 25-20 win.
The Lady Jets closed out the match with another 25-20 set win. The Dustdevils held some early leads in the set and with TAMIU up 18-17; NU went on a 5-0 run, highlighted by three kills from Gonzalez. The Lady Jets went up 22-18. With NU leading at 23-20,
Belinda Rohling ended any hope for the Dustdevils, getting back-to-back kills for the 25-20 win, and the 3-0 match victory.
Three Lady Jets hit double figures in kills. Braithwait totaled a match-high 13 kills and hit .526. Gonzalez added 11 kills, and Jones finished with a double-double of 10 kills and 12 digs. Litts' 44 assists were a match high, and she added 18 digs. Libero

NU travels to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday (Nov. 14) for its final road match of the season. The match starts at 7 p.m. in Alva, Okla.
