WICHITA – The Newman men's tennis team fell to Rockhurst, 7-2, on Friday afternoon (Feb. 15) at East Genesis. The Jets dropped to 1-5 on the season.
 
Jeff Wherritt and Mitchel Whitmer were the two wins for the Jets. Wherritt defeated Anthony Ibarra in the No. 5 singles match, and Whitmer won at No. 6 singles. Whitmer defeated Mitch Gillogly, 6-4, 6-2.
 
Rockhurst won all three of the doubles matches, including a tight 9-8 decision at No. 3 doubles. The Hawks also won the top four single matches.
 
The Jets return to action tomorrow (Feb. 16) at 11 a.m. against Tabor College at West Genesis.
