WICHITA – Newman men's tennis won its second straight match by defeating Bethel College, 5-4, today (March 12) at Riverside in Wichita. The Jets upped their record to 4-7 on the season.
 
The Jets won two of the three doubles matches, which would be the difference as the teams split singles, 3-3. At No. 1 doubles, Nei Dos Santos and Freddy Sanchez teamed up for an 8-5 win. The Jets picked up their second doubles win when Roman Nola and Jared Ferris got a tight 9-8 (7-5) victory at No. 2 doubles.
 
Dos Santos won No. 1 singles in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1. Freddy Sanchez got the victory at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-3 and 6-2. In No. 6 singles, Mitchel Whitmer won 4-6, 6-4 (10-5).
 
The Jets are in action tomorrow (March 13) against Friends at 3 p.m. in Wichita.
