WICHITA – Newman women's soccer looks to continue its winning ways at home with a non-conference game against Oklahoma Christian on Thursday (Sept 12) at 7 p.m. at Wilkins Field. The Lady Jets then travel to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday (Sept. 15) for their first road game of the 2013 season.
 
NU is 1-0 after defeating Southwestern College, 4-0, last Thursday (Sept. 5) in its season opener at Wilkins Field. The Lady Jets scored three first half goals to pull away and cruised to a 4-0 victory. Harriet Jakeman scored the first goal of the season in the ninth minute, and Mei-Mei Senthavy doubled the lead less than 3 minutes later for a 2-0 advantage in the 11 minute. Courtney Galliher scored in the 35 minute, and Senthavy added her second goal in the 86th minute for the 4-0 score.
 
Haley Borchers and Kayleigh Renfro combined for the shutout in goal. Renfro made four saves, and Borchers made one save.
 
Oklahoma Christian is 1-1 on the season. The Eagles started 2013 with a 6-0 loss to Central Oklahoma and then won 4-0 against Bethel. Rachel Bates is OC's leading goal scorer with two this season. Somer Helms and Estefania Bermudez Delgado each have one goal and Bermudez Delgado leads OC with two assists. Lindsey Williams is 1-1 in goal with a 4.12 goals against average in 131 minutes. She's made five saves and allowed six goals.
 
Northwestern Oklahoma State is 0-3 on the season. In its home opener, NWOSU lost to Fort Hays State, 5-1. The Rangers started their season with two games in St. Charles, Mo., where they fell to host Lindenwood, 6-1, and 1-0 to Emporia State. Kaitlyn O'Toole and Emily Witty each have a goal for the Rangers this season. Alyssa Williams and Sabrina Machorro each have assists. Caitlin Thorpe started all three games in goal and has a 4.18 goals against average with 24 saves and 11 goals allowed.
