Box Score ALVA, Okla. – Newman women's soccer suffered its first loss of the 2013 season, falling 2-1 to Northwestern Oklahoma State in Sunday (Sept. 15) at the Alva Rec Complex.
Mei-Mei Senthavy scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season as she has scored in all three of NU's games this season. The Lady Jets dropped to 2-1.
Both teams got on the scoreboard right before halftime. The Rangers took a 1-0 advantage in the 42nd on an unassisted goal by Emily Witty.
The Lady Jets quickly responded and tied the game at 1-1. With only 12 seconds before halftime, Senthavy scored for NU on an unassisted goal in the 45th minute.
NWOSU knocked in the game-winning goal in the 55th minute. Witty put in her second goal of the game on an assist by Alyssa Williams for the 2-1 score.
NU dominated in shots in the first half, outshooting NWOSU 9-2, including five shots on goal. The Rangers had one shot on goal in the first half; however, it was a Witty goal. In the second half, the shots were even at 11-11.
Haley Borchers started in goal for NU, making four saves and allowing the two goals in 90 minutes. She dropped to 2-1 on the season.
The Lady Jets continue their three-game road trip at Washburn on Sunday (Sept. 22) at 2 p.m. in Topeka, Kan.
