WICHITA – Newman men's tennis got a 7-2 victory over Friends University on Tuesday (Sept. 24) at Friends. The Jets improved to 2-1 in the fall dual season.
 
NU dropped the No. 1 match at both singles and doubles. Besides that, the Jets won all other matches against FU.
 
At No. 2 doubles, Max Pyle and Evgeniy Kim teamed up to win by an 8-5 score. Jeff Wherritt and Miguel Bendito were victorious, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles.
 
All five of the Jets single wins came in straight sets. Kim won at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-3. In the No. 3 singles match, Freddy Sanchez got a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Pyle won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, Bendito won 6-2, 6-0, and Wherritt got a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
 
The Jets travel to the ITA South Central Championships on Sept. 27 and 28 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
