Box Score EMPORIA, Kan. – The Newman women's soccer team couldn't generate much offense as the Lady Jets fell 2-0 to Emporia State on Wednesday (Sept. 25) at Emporia High School. NU dropped to 2-3 on the season.
The Hornets scored their two goals early with both of them coming in the first 26 minutes. ESU scored to go up 1-0 in the 16th minute on a shot from 20 yards out. The host Hornets doubled the advantage to 2-0 in the 26th minute. A shot from 20 yards away on the left side found the back corner.
The Lady Jets totaled eight shots with five of those on goal.
Maricela Ruvalcaba,
Mei-Mei Senthavy and
Courtney Galliher all had two shots each and all had one shot on goal.
Blair Terry and
Jeehye Yi also had a shot on goal each.
Haley Borchers made eight saves in goal, while allowing the two goals.
NU returns home on Sunday (Sept. 29) for a 2 p.m. game against Fort Hays State at Wilkins Field.
