WICHITA – The Newman wrestling team got pinned four times during its dual against Lindenwood on Sunday (Jan. 12) as the Lions won 39-6 at Fugate Gymnasium.
After starting the match with two close decision losses at 197 and 285 lbs., NU got its first won of the dual.
Dustin Reed won a 4-3 overtime decision over Marco Tamayo of LU. The Jets trailed 5-3 after the win as the Lions were subtracted one team point.
LU won the next three matches, all by pin. The Lions built a 23-3 advantage.
Colton Duhr got a 5-3 decision win in the 157 lb. class over LU's Derrick Weller.
The Lions won the final three weight classes for the 39-6 final score. LU won by forfeit, pin and major decision in the last three matches.
The Jets travel to Kearney, Neb. on Saturday (Jan. 18) for the Midwest Duals. NU takes on Southwest Minnesota State at 8 a.m., Northern State at 11 a.m., Chadron State at 2 p.m. and Minot State at 5 p.m.
