WICHITA – The Newman men's tennis team ended the fall season with a 5-4 win at Friends University on Wednesday (Oct. 1). The Jets went 2-1 in the fall.
The Jets started by winning two of the three doubles matches.
Max Pyle and
Evgeniy Kim won, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles, and Jose Enrique Coiras and Diego Rojo Fernandez got a 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles. NU led 2-1 after doubles competition.
The Jets and Falcons split in singles as both teams won three courts. At No. 1 singles, Eduardo Santos cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win. Kim got a dominating 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles. In the No. 4 singles match, Fernandez pulled out a close three set win by the score of 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (5). The win would be the difference in the 5-4 victory.
The match ends the fall season for the Jets. Their season will continue in the spring.
