WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team ends its regular season with three straight home matches. The Lady Jets start the run with Oklahoma Christian on Saturday (Oct. 25) at 5 p.m. at Wilkins Field.
NU is currently 5-7-1 and 1-4 in the Heartland Conference. In last week's action, the Lady Jets went 1-1 with a win over Texas-Permian Basin, 2-0. The Lady Jets fell to Lubbock Christian, 2-0. For the season, senior
Maricela Ruvalcaba leads the team with four goals, and she adds one assist.
Mei-Mei Senthavy has a team-high three assists.
Haley Borchers has taken over as the starting goalkeeper in the last four matches. She got the shutout win in the 2-0 victory over UTPB. She has a 0.95 goals against average with 10 saves.
The Eagles are currently 1-12-1 on the season and 0-4 in the Heartland Conference. The offense has struggled to score goals with only eight on the season. Madeline Roseke and Estefania Bermudez each have two goals. Alexis Farrell has a team-high two assists. The defense has allowed more than three goals per game. Lindsey Williams has started all 14 matches in goal, and she has a 3.80 goals against average with 113 saves.
After Saturday's match, the Lady Jets are in action on Monday (Oct. 27) against Dallas Baptist at 12 p.m. at Wilkins Field. The regular season ends on Nov. 1 against Rogers State at 5 p.m.
