WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team ended the 2014 season with a 1-0 loss to Rogers State on Saturday (Nov. 1) at Wilkins Field. The Lady Jets finished the season with a 5-9-2 record and 1-5-1 in the Heartland Conference.
The Hillcats scored the match-winner late in the first half on a shot from the right over the top of the goalkeeper in the 41st minute. RSU's Devin Stokes was credited with the goal and Blair Thomas got the assist.
Although the Lady Jets held a 15-4 advantage in shots, NU couldn't put one in. Four of the shots were on goal.
Mei-Mei Senthavy totaled four shots in her final contest in a NU uniform.
RSU played a high line, causing NU to be offsides 23 times in 90 minutes.
Nine seniors were recognized before the match:
Mireya Lyons,
Megan Snyder,
Maricela Ruvalcaba, Me-Mei Senthavy,
Courtney Galliher,
Aisling Kerr,
Kayla Strong,
Jasmine Woodruff and
Jeehye Yi. Five seniors started and seven appeared in the match with the other two seniors out due to injuries.
