WICHITA – The Newman men's basketball team starts its 2014-15 season on Tuesday (Nov. 18) night when they host Emporia State at 7 p.m. inside Fugate Gymnasium. Live stats and video will be available for the game, and the game is available on KGSO 1410 AM or

The Jets return two starters from a season ago – forward
Jeremy Espinoza and guard
Ryan McCarthy. Also returning for NU are
Jack Pyle,
Easton Julian and
Nathan Veenis. Joining the five returners are
13 newcomers.

Head Coach
Mark Potter enters his 17th season as the NU men's basketball coach. He has compiled an overall record of 290-180 in his 16 seasons.
The Hornets are 1-1 on the season after starting their season in Las Vegas, Nev. They defeated Concordia University, St. Paul in their season opener, 61-52, and fell to St. Cloud State, 87-77. Junior guard Terrence Moore has led the Hornets in scoring in both games. The Wichita Heights product scored 21 points in the win over Concordia and then totaled 24 points in the loss to St. Cloud State. A season ago, Moore was second on the team in scoring at 17.6 points per game.
The projected starters for the Hornets are Josh Pedersen and Terrence Sardin at forward and Tyler Jordan, Terence Moore and Micah Swank at guard.
Shaun Vandiver is in his fourth season as the head basketball coach at Emporia State. He is currently 41-46 overall. He led the Hornets to an 18-13 record last season.
