AUSTIN, Texas – The Jets' record-setting season came to an end in the Heartland Conference Championship. The Newman men's soccer team lost, 3-1, to No. 11 St. Edward's on Sunday (Nov. 9) in the Heartland Conference Tournament Championship, hosted by SEU at Lewis-Chen Family Field. The Jets finished the season with a 13-5-1 record, the best season in NU's NCAA Division II history, and NU's most wins since a 15-4-2 season in 2002. SEU moved to 16-2-1 on the season.

The Hilltoppers, who won the Heartland Conference regular season title with an 8-0 record, scored three goals in the first 49 minutes. SEU went up 1-0 with a goal in the 14th minute. Pablo Covarrubias beat NU's goalkeeper Steven Hamersky with a shot to the far post from 10 yards. The lead doubled to 2-0 in the 31st minute when SEU's Daniel Riley scored on a shot from the left side to the far post.
