Men’s Basketball Plays at Pitt State Tonight at 7 p.m.

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Newman men's basketball team plays its first road game of the regular season tonight (Dec. 2) at 7 p.m. at John Lance Arena. Live stats and audio is available on KGSO 1410 AM and www.kgso.com.
 
The Jets are currently 2-1 with wins over Emporia State and Washburn to start the season. In their most recent contest, the Jets fell, 82-75, to Fort Hays State, which was picked No. 2 in the MIAA preseason poll. The game is the final of four straight against Kansas MIAA schools. Reggie Baker has posted back-to-back 30 points game, and he had his first career double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds in the loss against FHSU. James Pegues added 13 points and Jeremy Espinoza had 10 points.
 
Head coach Mark Potter is in his 17th season at NU and has a 292-181 record. Since going NCAA Division II, Potter is 3-2 against PSU.
 
The Gorillas are 2-4 on the season. They went 1-2 last week. PSU lost to West Texas A&M, 72-63, and to No. 8 Tarleton State, 65-59. Their lone win was against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Leading the way in scoring for the Gorillas is Josiah Gustafson at 17.5 points per game, and senior Devon Branch adds 16.8 points per game.
 
Head coach Kevin Muff is in his fifth season at PSU. He has a record of 58-59 in his time at PSU, and he is 1-2 against Newman.
 
After tonight's game, NU returns home to take on Manhattan Christian on Saturday (Dec. 6) at 3 p.m. inside Fugate Gymnasium.
