WICHITA – The Newman men's basketball team welcomes Lubbock Christian to Fugate Gymnasium for a Heartland Conference matchup tonight (Jan. 8) at Fugate Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Live stats, audio and video are available for the game.
The Jets are currently 1-3 in the Heartland Conference and 5-5. In their most recent conference games, NU fell at Texas A&M International and at St. Mary's. The Dustdevils defeated the Jets by a score of 70-61 on Jan. 1, and the Rattlers won, 78-65, over NU on Jan. 3.
Cortrael Colbert scored a game-high 19 points in the game at TAMIU, and in the contest at StMU,
Jeremy Espinoza totaled a team-high 24 points in 38 minutes.
Reggie Baker currently leads the team in scoring at 19.8 points per game. Five Jets average double figures in scoring.
The Chaps are currently 6-4 and 3-0 in the Heartland Conference. LCU is currently on a four-game winning streak. The Chaps last three wins are over Texas A&M International, St. Mary's and Dallas Baptist. LCU defeated the Dustdevils, 73-55, and the Rattlers by a score of 64-62. The Chaps won, 88-78, over the Patriots on Monday. A.J. Luckey averages a team-high 19.6 points per game. Isaac Cardona adds 10.8 points per game.
After tonight's game, the Jets welcome Oklahoma Panhandle State to Wichita on Saturday (Jan. 10) at 1 p.m. inside Fugate Gymnasium.
