WICHITA – The Newman women's tennis team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a dominating 9-0 win over rival Friends on Monday (March 23) at Riverside Park. The Jets moved to 14-1 on the season. NU didn't drip a single game to the Falcons, winning everything either 6-0 or 8-0.
NU started with three dominating wins in doubles.
Hillary Hicks and
Kate Bugayenko got the 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. The team of
Lisa Pleskan and
Courtney Dold won by the 8-0 score at No. 2 doubles, and at No. 3 doubles,
Carissa Villaflor and
Ariana Raga got a 8-0 victory.
The Jets cruised in singles. Bugayenko, who is regionally ranked at No. 17, won by a 6-0, 6-0 score. In the No. 2 singles match, Pleskan pulled out to a 6-0, 6-0 victory. The wins kept coming with a 6-0, 6-0 win by Hicks at No. 3 singles. At the No. 4 singles match, Dold was victorious by a 6-0, 6-0 score. Raga played No. 5 singles and won a 6-0, 6-0 match. In the No. 6 singles match, Villaflor got a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
NU continues its homestand on Wednesday (March 25) with Metro State at 10 a.m. at Riverside Park.
