WICHITA – The Newman women's tennis team made it four straight wins by the score of 9-0, as the Jets won over Bethel College on Thursday (April 2) by the 9-0 score at Riverside Park. The No. 46-ranked Jets moved to 17-1 on the season.
NU started by dominating all three matches in double competition. The duo of
Carissa Villaflor and
Lisa Pleskan got an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. In the No. 2 doubles match,
Kate Bugayenko and
Tamar Tskhakaia pulled out an 8-1 victory, and at No. 3 doubles,
Courtney Dold and
Ariana Raga got an 8-2 win.
The Jets won all six singles matches in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Bugayenko crushed Allie Hipp by a 6-0, 6-0 score. In the No. 2 singles match, Pleskan dominated in a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Tskhakaia cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
Hillary Hicks picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles. In the No. 5 singles match, Dold made quick work of Rachel Shogren with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Villaflor won at No. 6 singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score.
NU continues its homestand with Cameron on Saturday (April 4) at 1:30 p.m. at Riverside Park in Wichita.
