WICHITA – The Newman women's soccer team fell behind, 2-0, to Oklahoma Baptist and couldn't make up the deficit, falling 2-1 to the Bison on Saturday (Sept. 5) night at Wilkins Field. The Jets dropped to 0-1-1 on the season.
OBU scored the only goal of the first half as Mikayla Lowery knocked in her own rebound to go up 1-0 in the 37th minute. In the 69th minute, Lowery struck again to put the Bison up 2-0. She put in a cross from Kerregan Edwards to get her second goal.
The Jets scored late in the 90th minute as
Morgan Foster hit a strike from the left side to beat the goalkeeper to the right for the 2-1 score. It's Foster's second goal in as many games. NU ran out of time, falling 2-1.
NU finished with a slight 11-10 advantage in shots, including a 6-3 edge in the second stanza. Both teams totaled seven shots on goal. Foster had four shots with three shots on goal.
Harriet Jakeman added two shots on goal.
Kelsi Langley got the start in goal, going the full 90 minutes. She totaled five saves and the two goals.
NU ends its three-match homestand on Wednesday (Sept. 9) against East Central. Start time is set for 6 p.m. from Wilkins Field. Live video and stats are available for the contest.
