WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman volleyball team gets set for its final nonconference match of the regular season Tuesday evening against Emporia State on the road.
 
The Jets (15-7, 4-3 Heartland) are coming off a week where they only played one match. Newman went head-to-head against Arkansas-Fort Smith last Thursday, where they fell in a competitive 3-0 match to the No. 1 team in the conference.
 
The Hornets (10-12, 3-7 MIAA) played two matches on the road this past weekend, taking on conference foe Missouri Western State and Northwest Missouri State. Emporia State took down Missouri Western State 3-2 on Friday but got swept 3-0 against Northwest Missouri State Saturday afternoon.
 
The last time Newman played Emporia State in the regular season was back on Sept. 25, 2012 when the Hornets beat the Jets 3-0 inside Fugate Gymnasium.
