Jets Get Set For Final Regular Season Match

WICHITA, Kan. – After getting a pair of victories last weekend and clinching a spot in the conference postseason, the Newman volleyball team remains at home to play its final regular season match Thursday on Senior Night against Arkansas-Fort Smith.
 
SCOUTING NEWMAN
 
The Jets (20-9, 9-4 Heartland) hosted Texas A&M International last Thursday and St. Mary's to close out the weekend on Saturday. Newman dominated the Dustdevils from start to finish and ended up sweeping them 3-0. The Jets then took on the Rattlers in a highly contested match but Newman would hang on to win 3-1 over St. Mary's.

SCOUTING THE LIONS (Thursday, 7:00 p.m.)
 
UAFS (21-5, 13-0 Heartland) hosted St. Mary's last Thursday and Texas A&M International Saturday for its Senior Day. The Lions swept the Rattlers 3-0 and then swept the Dustdevils to close out their weekend. UAFS heads into Thursday's match on an 18 match win streak, including 13 straight conference wins.

NOTES
 
-The Jets have already locked up a bid for the Heartland Conference tournament. A win on Thursday would lock up the third seed for Newman, while a loss and a St. Edward's win would put the Jets as the fourth seed.
 
-UAFS is the first seed heading into conference tournament for the fifth year in a row.
 
-As a team Newman remains in front of the conference in these statistical categories kills (1,398), kills per set (13.57), assists (1,299), assists per set (12.61) and digs (1,942).
