ST. LOUIS — Turning in its most dominant performance of the early season to earn its first win Friday night, the Newman men's tennis team split in a pair of matches over the weekend in Missouri.

The Jets (1-2) topped Lindenwood 8-1 Friday, with Alejandro Gonzalez, Eduardo Santos, Andre Ebinal, Diego Rojo and Enrique Coiras all turning in straight-set victories at singles after Newman swept the doubles matches.

Playing late into the night again Saturday, the Jets went back and forth with Missouri-St. Louis, splitting the singles matches and the Tritons taking the match on the strength of two wins at doubles. Max Pyle and Gonzalez earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while Gonzalez made it a perfect 4-for-4 weekend with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.

The Jets take to the courts again in a week, hosting McPherson Feb. 21.
