Jets To Face Off Against Northwest Missouri State

WICHITA, Kan. — Continuing their tough recent stretch, the Newman men's and women's tennis teams face off against MIAA foe Northwest Missouri State Tuesday morning.

Forecasted high winds have forced the matches indoors, with the women's match starting at 9 a.m. at West Genesis Health Club and the men starting at 9:30 at East Genesis.

The Jet women (10-2) look to get back on a winning streak after falling for the first time in seven matches on Saturday against Oklahoma Baptist. They'll take on the Bearcats (5-4), who own wins over three of the same teams that the Jets have topped in William Jewell, Colorado Mesa and East Central. It will be the fourth in a stretch of five straight days of competition for Northwest Missouri, which is ranked No. 8 in the Central Region.

The Jet men (5-7) will get their toughest match of the season thus far against the Bearcats (6-1), who are the No. 14-ranked team in the nation and the top in the Central Region. Their only loss came to Division I Missouri-Kansas City, and they've lost only four total points in six matches against DII competition.

After a busy week last week, this is the only match of the week for the Jets, and the last in the month of March. The Newman men did face off against Wichita State Sunday, and will do the same Thursday against Friends, but both of those are exhibition matchups.
