WICHITA, Kan. — Continuing their swing across the Midwest, the Newman tennis teams head back to Missouri to take on William Jewell and Rockhurst this weekend.
The Jet women (4-2) will look to keep their strong start going after splitting each of the past two weekends against Division II competition in Missouri. They begin the weekend with a 2 p.m. match against the Cardinals (4-5) Saturday. WJC has dropped each of its past three, although two of those were against Division I competition. The Jets close the roadtrip with a 10 a.m. match against the Hawks (1-2), who started the spring with a win before falling to Missouri Western and Air Force two weeks ago.
The Jet men (1-4) will look to get back on the winning track this weekend, facing off against William Jewell (3-7) Saturday at 2 p.m. at Clayview Country Club. The Cardinals won two of three to start the spring season, but have suffered four straight setbacks since. Newman will turn around Sunday to take on Rockhurst (1-0) at the Loyola Park Tennis Courts at 10 .m. The Hawks, who are ranked ninth in the Midwest Region, face Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon looking to move to 2-0 after topping Baker (Kan.) 8-1 in their spring debut.
