WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman volleyball team heads to Nebraska for the weekend for the 2016 New Victorian Inn and Suites/Runza Fall Classic, where they'll be taking on four nonconference opponents in Black Hills State, University of Mary, Northwestern Oklahoma State and Nebraska-Kearney.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (3-2 overall), played their home opener against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday night and won the match 3-1 over the Rangers. NU was helped by a career night in kills by Laura Hageman who finished the night 23 kills. Before the home opener the Jets were in Denton, Texas for a weekend tournament and finished 2-2 to start out their season.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
Black Hills State opened its season last weekend at the Dixie State Tournament in St. George, Utah. The Yellow Jackets (0-3 overall) lost to Dixie State, Cal State Monterey Bay and Northwest Nazarene in their first outing of the season.
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
University of Mary opened up its season at the Washburn Invitational last weekend in Topeka, Kan. The Marauders (4-1 overall) played all MIAA opponents and beat Missouri Western State, Emporia State, Pittsburg State but lost to host Washburn. On Tuesday, UM traveled to Dickinson State and swept the Blue Hawks.
SCOUTING THE RANGERS
Northwestern Oklahoma State started its season at the OPSU tournament in Goodwell, Okla. last weekend. The Rangers (0-5 overall) lost all four matches to Texas-Permian Basin, Fort Hays State, Missouri Southern State and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. After that the NWOSU took on Newman here inside Fugate Gymnasium Tuesday night and lost 3-1 to the Jets.
SCOUTING THE LOPERS
The host team Nebraska-Kearney opened its season at the Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott Oredigger Volleyball Classic in Golden, Colo. last weekend. The Lopers (4-0 overall) won the tournament by beating Edinboro University, Colorado Mesa University, Cal State L.A. and St. Cloud State University in dominating fashion.
