HISTORY LESSON
In 18 meetings since both entered the Heartland, Newman and TAMIU are dead even in the all-time series, 9-9. The two sides matched up for two exciting games a year ago, with the Jets winning by two at home and falling in double overtime on the road.
The Jets have won two of the last three against St. Mary's, although each side put up a lopsided victory at home last season. The Rattlers hold a 13-7 lead in the all-time series.
NOTES
-The Jets still scored 81 points despite the loss to DBU last week. Newman has put at least 80 on the scoreboard in each of their past seven games, and are still averaging a Heartland-best 96.5 in league games.
-Nwosu is second in the conference in scoring with his 17.5-point average. He's upped that clip to 21.5 in his seven league games.
-TAMIU comes in with one of the toughest defenses in the country, as the Dustdevils hold opponents to 67.2 points per game and 29.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
-St. Mary's Will Ferguson leads the conference with 4.3 assists per game.
