Jets Look To Turn Tide Back With Homestand

WICHITA, Kan. — Continuing a four-match homestand, the Newman volleyball team welcomes St. Mary's and Texas A&M International into Fugate Gymnasium this weekend.

SCOUTING NEWMAN

The Jets (8-11, 2-1 Heartland) wrapped up their first conference road trip of the season last weekend, splitting a draining weekend with a win over St. Edward's and a loss at Dallas Baptist. They then fell to Emporia State 3-1 Tuesday in their return home.

St. Mary's (7-8, 2-1 Heartland) have played the same league opponents as the Jets thus far, scratching out five-set wins over DBU and Lubbock Christian and falling to St. Edward's. Their last action was Friday, when they fell to No. 15 Tarleton State.

SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS (Saturday, Noon)

Texas A&M International (2-15, 0-3 Heartland) is in the midst of a seven-match losing streak, although they were more competitive their last time out, a 3-1 defeat to LCU Saturday. The Dustdevils will head to conference unbeaten Arkansas-Fort Smith Thursday before coming to Wichita.

-The Newman-St. Mary's match will help clear up some of the logjam in the middle of the Heartland Conference standings — or make it worse. Four teams have two wins on the season, with the Jets and Rattlers tied for second at 2-1, a game back of 3-0 UAFS.

-Emily Harvey is second in the league in kills, points and attacks per set.
