WICHITA, Kan. — Ending the season winning four out of five the Newman Women's Soccer team was able to clinch the final spot in the 2017 Heartland Conference Championships.

SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (11-5-2, 8-4-2 Heartland) won four of its final five games of the regular season, in that stretch the team beat teams that included St. Mary's, Texas A&M International, Oklahoma Christian, and Lubbock Christian, the Jets outscored all four opponents with a combined score of 17-5.

SCOUTING THE FIELD
Dallas Baptist (13-3-2, 11-1-2 Heartland) picked up the number one seed after winning the regular season championship. The Patriots won its last five games and clinch a playoff spot Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Texas A&M International. The last two times the Jets and Patriots met it was a 1-1 tie in the first game and the Patriots took the second game 2-1.
St. Edward's (11-3-4, 9-2-3 Heartland) picked up the second seed, winning four of its last five games and while doing that the team clinched a playoff spot on the road when they traveled to San Antonio to take on St. Mary's and won 2-1.
Rogers State (13-3-2, 9-3-2 Heartland) take the third seed, a team that also won four of its last five games of the regular season. The Hillcats were able to clinch a playoff spot Saturday on the Road in Oklahoma City taking on Oklahoma Christian and winning 6-0.
