ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Closing its regular season with a tough task, the Newman wrestling team fell to Lindenwood 36-8 Saturday night in MIAA action.
Dustin Reed, and 8-2 winner at 125 pounds, and Tyler Mies, who needed extra time to grab a 10-8 win in sudden victory at 149. Kyle Ryan added another win for the Jets (1-5, 0-5 MIAA), with a 7-3 win at 174.
While Newman was at Lindenwood, four Jets took part in the Missouri Valley Open, wrestling unattached. Noel Torres was the most successful, ripping off four consecutive bonus-point wins to win the title at 184.
The Jets get to take a week off before heading to Kearney, Nebraska Feb. 12 for the MIAA Championships.
