WICHITA, Kan. — After getting its conference season underway with a sweep last weekend, the Newman volleyball team makes its first Heartland Conference road trip of the season this weekend, facing St. Edward's and Dallas Baptist.

The Jets (7-9, 1-0 Heartland) have lost just one of their past 10 sets played over the course of a three-match winning streak, sweeping Lubbock Christian to open Heartland play on Saturday, then turning around to top Southern Nazarene 3-0 in nonconference action later that day.

St. Edward's (11-4, 2-0 Heartland) sits atop the conference standings after one weekend, putting together back-to-back sweeps of St. Mary's and Texas A&M International to continue a four-match winning streak. Around those two came wins against Christian Brothers and Henderson State, two teams that have nipped the Jets this season.

NOTES
-The Jets have actually won nine straight sets dating back to Sept. 19, when they fell in the first set against NAIA No. 4 Park, but bounced back for three straight to win the match, and followed it up with a pair of sweeps last weekend.
-Megan Pedersen earned the Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, while Anna Burton earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor. It was the third time in four weeks this season a Newman player won offensive honors.
-Burton is ninth in the nation with her 6.04 digs per set, but third in the Heartland. One of the liberos ahead of her is St. Edward's Morgan Beckham at 6.17.
