WICHITA, Kan. — Newman picked up a win at home against Tabor with help from Jamie Barkway, who had two goals in the game. The Jets played hard and fast, attacking the goal every opportunity they were given in a 4-0 victory.
KEY SEQUENCE
The Jets (1-1-1) had a fast pace the whole game and were able to attack on all cylinders. Barkway played with confidence and was able to score two goals, while Tommy Fiszel and Jared Rangel got in on the action as well score a goal each against the Blue Jays (0-2-0).
SCORING PLAYS
NU-10'-Jamie Barkway, assists Andreas Agrell and Ed Jabbari. Barkway scored in the 10th minute with an assist from Agrell and Jabbari after a corner that led to a header and a score.
NU-62'-Barkway, assist Kieran Laking. Barkway scored his second of the game in the 62nd, receiving a header assist from Laking for the easy goal.
NU-63'-Tommy Fiszel, unassisted. Fiszel was able to get in the action in the 63rd by receiving a pass and taking down the field past defenders for a well-timed goal.
NU-64'-Jared Rangel, assist Taylor White. Rangel was the last player to get in on the action scoring in the 64th with the assist from White giving the jets a 4-0 lead and sealing the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-After a fast start to the game the Jets were taking every opportunity to score that they can first in the 10th minute while on the attack while showing no evidence of slowing down.
- The Jets then scored in the 62nd, 63rd, and 64th while on the attack in the first and second half, giving the Blue Jays no opportunities to get any shots away. The Jets took 28 shots total (15 in the first half and 11 in the second).
-The Jets controlled the pace and the ball for the entire game giving a lot of credit to the defense giving Tabor no opportunities to get on the other side of the field.
NOTES
-The win is the first this season for the Jets after giving up just one goal in two contests last weekend but settling for a draw and a close loss.
-The goals scored by Barkway are his first and second of the season as well as the first for Fiszel and Rangel.
