1/18/2018 9:57:00 PM

Box Score

WICHITA, Kan. — With the help of a strong second half the Newman Men's Basketball team got a well-played victory 87-76 over Kansas Wesleyan. The Jets were looking for a tune up before they hit the road this weekend taking on conference foe Dallas Baptist.

KEY SEQUENCE

The Jet (8-9) were looking at an 11 point lead with 18:15 left in the second half, with the help of some Kansas Wesleyan (9-10) turnovers the Jets were able to add on to their lead as the game went on and with offense coming from Kevin Bryant, Andre Sands and Dametrius Walker the Jets were able to get the victory over the Coyotes.

HOW IT HAPPENDED

-The Jets came out firing in the beginning of the first half, the offense was flowing smoothly and the defense caused fits for the Coyotes offense. Bryant and Sands both had big halves helping Newman's lead throughout the game. Newman would go into halftime with a 45-36 lead.

-Newman would come out in the second half firing once again, the Jets were able to continue to give the Coyotes fits offensively and this would help the Jets run their offense. Christian DeYoung would add on to the scoring along with Damien Akao and Walker. Newman would continue this trend throughout the game and would ultimately lead the Jets to victory.

-Bryant helped Newman out both offensively and on the boards, Bryant would total 24 points and 12 rebounds in the Jets victory. Sands and DeYoung also had good games offensively contributing 16 and 15 points respectively.

NOTES
