Jets Looking to Continue Late Season Surge in Final Road Trip

WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman men's soccer team will make their final road trip of the regular season this weekend. The Jets will take on Lubbock Christian Thursday (Oct. 11) with first kick scheduled for 3 p.m. The Jets will conclude their final road game of the regular season in Odessa, TX against Texas-Permian Basin on Saturday (Oct. 13) with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.

SCOUTING NEWMAN

The Jets (6-5-1, 3-4-1 Heartland) went 1-0-1 last week. The Jets took a late 3-2 lead at Rogers State, but was unable to hold-on allowing a late goal, resulting in a 3-3 tie. The Jets got back into the win column last Saturday holding off a late Texas A&M International scoring chance, winning 3-2.

SCOUTING THE CHAPPERALS

Lubbock Christian University (5-3-3, 3-2-3 Heartland) came out of last week like the Jets with a 1-0-1 record. The Chaparrals defeated #23 West Texas A&M 2-1 in OT on the road last Thursday evening, ending a two game losing streak. The Chaparrals squandered a 3-2 halftime lead last Saturday afternoon against Texas – Permian Basin settling for a 3-3 draw.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS

Texas Permian Basin (1-10-1, 0-7-1 Heartland) ended last week going 0-1-1. The Falcons dropped a high scoring affair on the road 5-2 to Eastern New Mexico last Thursday. The Falcons used a second half goal forcing overtime against Lubbock Christian resulting in a 3-3 draw, their first of the season.
