Jets Return Home Looking to Continue Postseason Hunt

WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman men's soccer team opens a four game homestead, as they look to make a late run towards a postseason spot. The Jets can help their late run starting on Thursday (Oct. 18) at 7:30pm as they host #7 Midwestern State University. The Jets will end the weekend hosting Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 20) with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

SCOUTING NEWMAN

The Jets (7-6-1, 4-5-1 Heartland) did not get the results they wanted last weekend settling for a 1-1 road trip. The Jets fell last Thursday (Oct. 11) 2-1 to Lubbock Christian on a highly controversial foul that gave the Chaparrals a penalty kick with 1:03 left. The Jets rebounded strongly last Saturday (Oct. 13) defeating Texas-Permian Basin 3-1.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS

Midwestern State (11-1-1, 8-1-1 Heartland) saw something they had not seen all year splitting the week going 1-1. The Mustangs got off to a good start last week defeating Eastern New Mexico 2-0 last Thursday (Oct. 11). The Mustangs suffered their first loss of the season falling to West Texas A&M 1-0 in OT last Saturday (Oct. 13).

Oklahoma Christian (6-7-1, 4-5-1 Heartland) had a rough weekend last week going 0-2. The Eagles were blanked by West Texas A&M 5-0 last Thursday (Oct. 11). OCU was unable to break their two game losing streak falling Saturday (Oct. 13) to Eastern New Mexico 2-1.
